Dan Katter has a BA in Communications from Purdue University
with a Major in telecommunications. Dan has also attended
the Maine Film and Television work shops taking classes in
Cinematography, Direction and Production.
Dan began his career in media doing both legal and corporate
video production. His company recorded video depositions,
produced video settlement brochures and Day in the Life
documentaries. Later Dan expanded to commercial and corporate
production when he joined forces with Pic-Tric Productions.
Following a career shift Dan worked in the life insurance
brokerage business where he eventually joined the technology
department. He worked in the Forms Department and transitioned
into the Technology as the forms duties transitioned from
a hard copy to an electronic medium. Dan helped build and
then maintained the firms on-line forms library, checking
for updates and designing a consistent interface across all
of the firms many carriers.
Later, Dan left Indiana and moved to California to work in
feature film. Dan began in San Francisco working in the Grip
and Electric Departments setting up lights and running power.
Over the next three years Dan worked in Hollywood, Sacramento,
Palm Springs and other locales on a variety of film projects.
Later Dan transitioned into Art Department doing a variety
of jobs from Set Construction, Prop Management, Computer Graphics,
Web Design, and Basic Practical Effects.
In addition to film production, Dan also worked in Commercial
Photography working on catalog sets for Pottery Barn Kids.
Dan later became the Producer of those shoots. He coordinated
the trucks, locations, and merchandise to make the shoots
run as smooth as possible.
Now, Dan has returned to Indiana and is rejoining the media
production profession. Dan is applying the full breadth of
his varied experience to his company, Media 401.
